The Role of Women in Islam
In the Qur'an, Allah said that both men and women are alike. A woman doesn't take her father's name or her jusband's , because she was an individual in her own right. She can own property and dispose of it as she wished. She have a right to education and to work. She could keep her income and her husband was still required to care for her. She can choose her husband and divorce him uncondtionally. The Prophet's marriage to Khadija set an example of a role of woman. This confident, independent lady was a successful businnesswoman. She was the first person to accept Islam
